As laypersons concerned about the future of Belin, it is time for us to discuss the theological issues and differing beliefs regarding the authority and interpretation of the Bible, its impact on our faith and the future of our church.
In talking with other members of Belin, we have learned that a large portion of our congregation is unaware of the numerous issues that now exist within our denomination. The United Methodist Church is no longer the UMC that we know and love. We believe that in order for Belin to remain true to its Methodist tradition, to the authority of scripture, and to the values and Biblical truth upon which the church was founded, we must disaffiliate from the UMC.
We have a choice: STAY BELIN OR STAY UMC
The goal of Friends to Preserve Belin is to provide Belin members and their families with the resources that they need to explore the theological differences within the United Methodist Church. We want to help members educate themselves so that they can form their own opinions on the future they want for Belin. We encourage you to view the resources compiled on this site and also to perform your own research to fully understand all of the issues. Only then can you make an informed decision as to what you believe is best for our church.
